BOX & BURROW VINTAGE is an individually owned and operated business. I appreciate your patient when transacting with me. I try to be as thorough as possible but even as organized as I try to be, some things do get overlooked from time to time, as I am typically trying to wear all the hats. I apologize in advance for that, but again when buying vintage you should expect some signs of wear whether they are minimal or other.
HOW I PRICE MY ITEMS: The vintage market is a fast growing one and the level of time and care taken from one seller to the next varies. It is difficult these days to compare price points from one shop to the next. Here are some things to take into account before questioning a shops pricing. A brick and mortar shop owner has more overhead than an online seller, but the prep time it may take from one online seller to the next varies. How I acquire my items and at what price point may be very different to another seller carrying similar types of items. My items are priced based on everything from condition and colour, rarity and age, desirability and most of all, the time it takes for me to prep, mend, clean, shoot and list each item. The best thing about vintage is no matter where you are buying from, you are investing in a one-of-a-kind item that speaks to you for one reason or another, regardless of the condition or price. It's important to build trust and a relationship with your shop of choice. Understand what makes that shop work for your needs as a buyer. For some it's rarity over condition, for another it's condition over price. Either way please be respectful on your continued hunt for unique vintage.
PRODUCT COLOUR: I have a background in digital colour imaging and do my best to get the item photos as close to the real life colour as possible. It’s a process I take seriously and do with much care. With that said, when buying from a digital source, slight variations in colour from monitor, to phone screen, to real life, to photo studio are a reality that is unavoidable and should be taken into account before purchasing. If you have any questions regarding colour please contact me prior to check out. I’m happy to assist. I also try to describe the colours as much as possible within each listing.
ITEM CONDITION: Vintage and antique items by their very nature have some wear, imperfections, and signs of age/time. This is what gives them their character, charm, and collectability. Although I list items in overall excellent vintage condition, items may have some minor surface marks that you would expect with vintage. These DO NOT - in any way in my experience or opinion - spoil or adversely affect the look or use of the item. I understand that the quality standard of each customer may differ from time to time so I do suggest if you require further info or additional photos please ask for them and I'd be happy to provide them. The photos provided in each listing act as part of the item description so please pay close attention to them. I prefer to focus on the beauty of a vintage piece and the life left in it, rather than the focusing on every small blemish it may hold. With that said, if something is damaged or has a major flaw I would note these things, same goes for if something is in pristine or impeccable condition, I would also state this. Otherwise I assume my buyers understand that vintage items will most of the time have some wear and tear attached.
CLEANING: All items are well disinfected when entering the collection. This does not necessarily mean that all items have been soaked or washed, in order to protect the delicate nature of the item. Additional cleaning of furs, outerwear and leather items are the responsibility of the buyer. All items are held in a high-standard of cleanliness and quality when entering the collection, but may require additional attention depending upon the varying standards of each buyer. This is taken into account when pricing an item. All decor and collectible items are lightly wiped down but are left in the original state they were found to preserve the patina and old world charm that we all love. Fabric decor items are not washed before selling to preserve their delicate nature. Please examine the photos carefully for any flaws that I may have missed in my description. Anything else that can be cleaned or washed without affecting the vintage or antique collectibility qualities will be. Again, if you have any questions or concerns about any particular item, please get in touch before making your purchase. I am not responsible for what happens to an item in your care or how and item reacts to the type of washing procedures you choose. Please assume all of your vintage is happiest if hand washed or dry cleaned.
THE USE OF REPURPOSED, recycled, and sustainable materials when shipping is important to me. Sometimes this means what’s on the outside doesn’t always look so pretty, but I promise, it’s what’s inside that counts! Processing your item for shipping can take between 1-5 days from your purchase. This gives me time to prep your item properly and do any additional cleaning or mending that may be needed before the item heads your way. I appreciate your patience. Please get in touch if an item requires a RUSH option or is a GIFT and needs any special attention. Special messages can also be added to your parcel.
SHIPPING RATES set at checkout are set with trackable options only as well as packaging and handling costs included. Non-trackable rates are available upon request. I do recommend you ship with tracking to ensure yourself peace of mind. If you choose a non-trackable option, I won't be able to step in on your behalf if there's an issue and the shop can not be held accountable for any lost or delayed packages.
GROUP SHIPPING OPTIONS are always available. Please get in touch if you have any questions regarding on ways to save on shipping costs when buying multiple items. If you are building a custom order, rates can be set for group shipping options before you checkout. Please get in touch via the CONTACT page or DM me through my IG feed and I can work with you to ensure you get the best possible rates for your purchase.
CUSTOMS / DUTY / TAXES: Additional fees may apply for buyers outside of Canada. Please note, the shop is not responsible for payment of any customs, duty or additional tax fees that may be charged upon delivery.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO NOT ACCEPT a package at delivery for any reason, abandon a parcel at the post office or have it returned to the shop without first getting in contact with me, you will forfeit your purchase with no opportunity for resolution. As mentioned in my FAQs and shop Policies, ALL SALES ARE FINAL and I do not accept cancellations. If an item arrives damaged or was misrepresented in some way by myself, please get in touch with me first so we can work through the issue together.
